Technical Information

Boat Sketch

Our vessel is twin diesel powered, USCG approved for 12 passengers. The “Misty Fjord” cruises at 11 knots, with a top speed of 14 knots. The fiberglass hull was built by LeClercq Marine of Seattle. It carries 1400 gallons of fuel and 600 gallons of water. The water capacity is supplemented with a 800 gal. per day water maker.

Our vessel is equipped with kayaks, and a 13′ unsinkable Boston Whaler shore boat.

Accommodations: A Touch of Class!

Though the vessel captures the ambiance of an Alaskan fishing vessel, it has the appearance and comfort of a modern excursion yacht. Dale created the profile and arrangement specifically for small group wilderness cruising in Southeast Alaska.

The “Misty Fjord” has 5 staterooms, each with a private shower and toilet. Two staterooms have double berths; the others have two single berths. An aft deck drying room provides a place to hang coats and rain gear to insure a dry start in the morning.

User Friendly

The vessel was designed as an “Expedition Class” vessel to facilitate enjoying the out of doors, but comfort was not neglected. The vessel has a spacious interior featuring both a dining area and a salon. It has a self-serve snack bar separate from the main galley. Here the coffee pot is always on and hot water is available for tea and hot chocolate. There is also a microwave and a beverage stocked refrigerator with ice and water dispensers.

Going Green

The “Misty Fjord” is powered by two 526 H.P. John Deere engines. These engines employ cutting edge technology for low emissions and high fuel efficiency and are EPA Tier 11 compliant for use in commercial service. These engines meet both the International Maritime Organization (IMO) emission standards and the European Recreational Craft Directive standards. For efficiency and comfort, we usually travel at “hull speed”, the vessel’s most efficient speed. Having two engines provides for a measure of additional safety as well as economy.
